How to Reset the Oil Change Light on a Toyota Camry (All Model Years)

If you’ve just changed your oil and the maintenance light is still on in your Toyota Camry, don’t worry—it’s easy to reset, and you can do it right at home. Here’s a quick guide based on the model year of your Camry.

2018–2025 Toyota Camry (with push-button start)

  1. Turn the ignition to ON (press the start button twice without pressing the brake).
  2. Use the buttons on the steering wheel to navigate:
    • Go to SettingsVehicle SettingsScheduled Maintenance.
  3. Select Yes to reset the maintenance data.

Note: Some trims may label it as “Maintenance Reset” instead.

 2012–2017 Toyota Camry

  1. Turn the key to the ON position (or press start twice without the brake).
  2. Make sure the odometer is showing the trip meter A.
  3. Turn the key off.
  4. Hold the trip reset button, then turn the key back to ON.
  5. Keep holding the button. You’ll see the dashes disappear and the “000000” appear. That means it’s reset!

 2007–2011 Toyota Camry

  1. Turn the key to ON.
  2. Make sure the display shows trip A.
  3. Turn the ignition OFF.
  4. Press and hold the trip button, then turn the ignition back to ON.
  5. Keep holding the button until the light resets.

 2002–2006 Toyota Camry

  1. Insert your key and turn it to ON (not start).
  2. Make sure the odometer shows ODO (not Trip A or B).
  3. Turn the key OFF.
  4. Press and hold the trip/odo button.
  5. While holding it, turn the key back to ON.
  6. Keep holding until you see “000000” and the light turns off.

Quick Tip:

The maintenance light isn’t a warning—it’s just a friendly reminder. It comes on every 5,000 miles to let you know it’s time for an oil change or service. After doing your maintenance, resetting it ensures your car stays on schedule.

Still seeing the light after trying this? Double-check your steps and make sure you’re in the right display mode (trip A, ODO, etc.). If it still won’t reset, your local mechanic or Toyota dealer can help. Let us know if you’d like a printable version or video walkthrough!
