2016 honda civic reset oil light
To reset the oil life/maintenance light on a 2016 Honda Civic, turn the car on without starting the engine, go to the Oil Life screen in the cluster, then press and hold the button(s) until it resets to 100%.
With steering wheel buttons (most common)
- Turn the car on without starting:
- With a start button: press START twice with your foot off the brake.
- Open the maintenance/oil screen:
- Press the INFO / “i” button on the left side of the steering wheel until you see the wrench icon and “Oil Life” on the display.
- Reset the oil life:
- Press and hold the ENTER/OK button on the steering wheel for about 10 seconds until the maintenance reset screen appears or the oil life starts flashing.
- Select “Reset” or “All Due Items,” then press ENTER/OK again to confirm so it goes to 100%.
With the cluster trip knob (if no “i” button)
Some 2016 Civics without the steering wheel “i” button use the little stalk/knob on the gauge cluster.
- Turn the car on without starting (press the START button twice, or turn the key to ON).
- Press the trip/selector knob until the Oil Life % screen shows.
- Press and hold the knob for about 10 seconds until the oil life blinks.
- Release, then press and hold again until it resets to 100%.
If it does not reset, make sure the engine is off (ignition only) and that you hold the button down long enough on the correct Oil Life screen.
